Energy saving tips to help save you money and help save the Planet.
In the Home Unplug everything you are not using- toasters, chargers, etc. Switch all lights to CFLs-there are now all sizes and types. Clean furnace filters monthly if have forced air systems. Buy energy star appliancesBank online. Turn off computers at end of day. Put in energy savings mode after 10 minutes of nonuse. LCD monitors use less energy Laptops use much less energy. Use shades, drapes at night in winter and during day in summer. Use fireplace minimally-make sure flue is closed. Set water heater at 120 degrees. Insulate hot water pipes. Turn down thermostat! Wear sweaters,vests Use baking soda and vinegar to clean.
Auto Get rid of excess weight(clean out the car). Use cruise control on highway to maintain constant speed. No idling- cars do not need to be warmed up anymore. No drive-throughs!Slow down! Gas mileage plummets over 60MPH. Slowly accelerate. Look ahead; anticipate, coast to red lights. Roof racks impede airflow. Check tire pressure monthly! Carpool. Park in the shade
